Fall Spill Fee Holiday Begins September 19

Residence fees will be waived at all landfills and waste transfer sites during the holidays

If you’re looking to dispose of trash from your property, the annual fall residential tipping fee holiday at Greater Sudbury landfills and transfer stations begins September 19.

During this period, all dumping fees at Greater Sudbury landfills and waste transfer sites will be waived until September 24. Residents of Greater Sudbury can deliver discarded household items to local landfills for free during this week.

During the Tipping Fee Holidays, hours of operation at all sites are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

“Please sort your loads for proper disposal and recycling before arriving at the landfill,” the city advised in a news release. “Examples of appropriate sorting categories include blue box recyclables, scrap metal and appliances, furniture, electronics, concrete, tires, leaves and yard waste, and regular household trash. Prevent litter by covering trailers and truck beds when transporting waste. »

The garbage fee will be waived if delivered in a private motor vehicle, otherwise a special form must be completed and provided to the city.

“Residents who choose to rent a vehicle or borrow a commercial van to deliver their household garbage must complete a Rental Vehicle Approval Form or a Commercial Van Approval Form,” the city said. “Applications must be submitted for approval at least one week before the start of the tipping fee holiday, before the end of the day on Monday, September 12.

Non-residents of Greater Sudbury are not permitted access to municipal landfills. Proof of address may be required.

Be prepared for longer than usual wait times due to increased landfill traffic during the tipping fee holiday week.
