MLS Week 10 betting preview and play picks

Another positive week of picks going 3-1. We had NINE goals in the NYCFC game against Toronto as it was just a thrilling no-sweat win for us. Philadelphia and Los Angeles FC still remain at the top of their conferences after Philadelphia tied 1-1 and LAFC pulled off a late winner to beat Cincinnati on the road. Let’s enter week 10 and we will definitely continue to stay warm!

Montreal vs. Atlanta United

Date/Time: Saturday (04/30) at 4:00 PM EST

  • These two teams have a history of high scoring matches when they face each other. Montreal have struggled defensively this season as they have yet to keep a clean sheet and are conceding 2.12 goals per game. Their offense has, however, found the net in clusters lately. They have scored 2+ goals in four of their last five matches. They average 1.75 goals per game with 13 of their 14 goals coming from open play.
  • The only other goal was a penalty and they are yet to score from a free kick or free kick. Atlanta’s defense has had its ups and downs this season. They are definitely a better home team and have struggled a bit on the road conceding just over a goal per game. They have kept just two clean sheets in eight games and are averaging 1.25 goals per game. There are injury issues on the Atlanta side with their starting goaltender and main forward both absent.

Stat H2H: The last three meetings have seen both teams find the net and 3+ goals.

Pick: BTTS (Both teams to score)/Over 2.5 goals (+105)

New England vs. Inter Miami

Date/Time: Saturday (04/30) at 7:30 PM EST

  • Yet another game where both defenses have struggled this season. New England haven’t kept a clean sheet in seven consecutive games and are conceding two goals per game this year. It’s not the same New England team that finished first in their conference last year, that’s for sure. Their attack, however, has remained consistent averaging 1.5 goals per game this season.
  • They were on average a little less than last year. They have scored two goals in three consecutive games and won just one of those games. Inter Miami are just a scrappy team that always seem to hang around and always seem to score a goal when they need it. They, too, are averaging two goals per game this season and have kept just two clean sheets all year. They score just over a goal a game and like I said they always seem to be trailing every game. They have won four games in a row and come into this match full of confidence.

H2H Stat: They’ve only played three times (Miami won 2 of 3) and these teams are very different from those matchups.

Pick: BTTS (both teams to score) (-130)

New York City FC vs. San Jose

Date/Time: Sunday (5/1) at 1:00 PM EST

  • The games of these two teams this season have been filled with goals. Let’s jump right into those stats, because they say it all. New York City FC are averaging 2.29 goals per game, conceding 1.43 goals per game and have kept just two clean sheets this season.
  • San Jose is averaging 1.9 goals per game, conceding 2.5 goals per game, and has yet to keep a clean sheet this season. San Jose has conceded the most penalties this season with three and received the most penalties this season with three. New York City FC have created 18 big chances this season, which ranks second in MLS. This game just has goals written all over it and I will absolutely attack this game.

Stat H2H: Four of their five encounters have seen both teams score and 3+ goals.

Pick: BTTS/Over 2.5 goals (-115)

Los Angeles FC vs Minnesota

Date/Time: Sunday (5/1) at 10:00 PM EST

  • This should be a very good game to watch. Los Angeles FC have been by far the best team in MLS this season and Minnesota is no slouch. As good as Los Angeles FC have been, they haven’t kept a clean sheet in six straight matches. I expect that streak to continue as Minnesota is another team that always seems to stay and can score a goal if needed or can sit down and stack the box.
  • Minnesota hasn’t lost to Los Angeles FC in its last five meetings and has one of the best goaltenders in MLS right now in St. Clair. It will be a tough task for the visitors to slow down an attack who are averaging 2.38 goals per game and have scored in every game this season. I’m very excited to watch this game and I expect chances on both sides and I might see something amazing!

Stat H2H: Both teams to score have struck in the last three meetings between these two.

Pick: BTTS (both teams to score) (-130)
