Sportsbet already announces that Anthony Albanese will win the 2025 federal election

The bookmakers have already declared Anthony Albanese the favorite to win the next federal election in three years.

It’s not even 24 hours since Anthony Albanese won the federal election, but Sportsbet are already predicting that Labor will win again in three years.

The Australian online bookmaker offers odds of $1.50 for the Labor Party, $2.65 for the Coalition and $51 for any other party.

“We don’t know how long Anthony Albanese slept last night so the next election will be the furthest thing from his mind, but we’re already suggesting Labor go next,” said Sportsbet’s Sean Ormerod .

This comes as uncertainty remains over who will be the next Liberal leader.

Last night, Scott Morrison conceded defeat and announced that he would leave the Liberal leadership.

But he said he planned to remain in parliament and in three years was “looking forward” to re-election in a Liberal government.

“To my colleagues tonight, who had to deal with very difficult news and who lost their seats tonight, as leader I take responsibility for the wins and losses,” he said.

“That’s the burden and that’s the responsibility of leadership.

“As a result, I will hand over leadership at the next village hall meeting to ensure the party can move forward under new leadership, which is the appropriate thing to do.”

All eyes are now on Peter Dutton as Liberal Party deputy leader Josh Frydenberg is likely to lose his Kooyong seat in Melbourne to independent Dr Monique Ryan.

Dutton, the outgoing defense minister, got scared in his Dickson seat in Brisbane early during the election night count but eventually saw a challenge from Labour’s Ali France.

The Liberal Party has won the previous three federal elections in 2013, 2016 and 2019, while Labor has won the previous two in 2007 and 2010.

The 2007 election was the first time Labor had been re-elected since 1996.

However, in 2010 elections resulted in a hung parliament for the first time since 1940.

Labor won only 72 seats and 76 seats are needed to govern in its own right.

Labor returned to government with the support of the Greens and three independents.

In the 2022 election, Labor has enough seats to form a majority government, The Australian projects itself.

A batch of new seats were called on Sunday morning, pushing Labor to 77, dodging the prospect of a minority government.
