Tipping Point opens a new season with “It’s A Wonderful Life”: 17/11-18/12


NORTHVILLE, MI (November 16, 2022) – Tipping Point Theater (TPT) kicks off its 15th theatrical season on November 17 at 8 p.m. with Joe Landry’s adaptation of It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. TPT
producing dynamic, culturally meaningful and engaging theatrical offerings rank among the best
professional representations offered in the State of Michigan.

“We’re kicking off our 15th season with a classic,” says Julia Glander, Co-Artistic Director of Production. “This story within a story…in a story of love and redemption holds up remarkably well in our current pandemic world. How do you find joy in these unstable times? We look at the people around us. Our family, our friends, our colleagues, our neighbors and even the strangers we meet. This story reminds us to take care of each other. Let us celebrate and cherish our people this holiday season, the “true angels on earth”.

Widely considered a hallmark of the holiday season, It’s A Wonderful Life tells the story of idealist George Bailey, played by radio actor Jake Laurents (played by local Detroit actor Kevin O’Callaghan) , in this captivating American holiday classic. on WXYZ radio waves in 1946 Metro Detroit. Complete with on-stage Foley Artist sound effects, a powerhouse ensemble cast, including Rico Bruce Wade, Kevin O’Callaghan, Faith Berry, Patrick Loos and Annabelle Young, portray 43 favorite holiday characters in the beloved holiday story. a fateful and life-affirming Christmas. Joe Landry’s new take on this nostalgic classic is set to become America’s new favorite holiday
tradition. “It’s a Wonderful Life has been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it as a child,” says Landry, “and its message about how each of our lives touches so many others are welcome every year.” This award-winning adaptation was named one of the ten most produced plays in the country by American Theater Magazine. “One of the best holiday shows around. TPT will be hosting a very special opening night sponsored by local Northville restaurant Mithai & Chai on Saturday, November 19 starting at 5 p.m. in the lobby before the 6 p.m. performance. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, chai tea and wine will be provided to all patrons with tickets to the November 19 show.

After these performances, the season continues with the Michigan premiere of Loy A. Webb’s The Light, followed by Robert Harling’s modern classic Steel Magnolias, and concludes with the world premiere of Tracy L. Spada’s comedy Game. Adjust. Match!

It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is based on the story The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern from the screenplay by Frances Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra and Jo Swerling.
